Centre of Expertise for Digital Youth Work

In 2020–2023, the Centre of Expertise for Digital Youth Work will comprise Verke, administered by the City of Helsinki, and Koordinaatti, administered by the City of Oulu. Verke is the administrator of the Centre of Expertise for Digital Youth Work and is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The National Youth Work and Youth Policy Programme specifies four objectives for the Centre of Expertise for Digital Youth Work; implementation of the related measures is divided between Verke and Koordinaatti throughout the four-year term as follows:

  1. Strengthening digital youth work competence in youth work leadership, planning and practice (Verke)
  2. Strengthening knowledge-based development of digital youth work (Verke)
  3. Strengthening youth workers’ competences and awareness of the risks and opportunities of digital media (Verke and Koordinaatti)
  4. Supporting cross-sectional coordination to prevent grooming on social media (Koordinaatti)
